Our Mission

Throughout her career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Girl Fit founder Kate Hamilton has worked in a variety of settings, including a children’s hospital, an outpatient orthopedic and sports clinic, backstage on a Broadway show, at a summer camp, and at international figure skating competitions with the US Figure Skating medical team. Regardless of the setting or patient population, physical therapy has always been both a healing and learning experience for her patients.

However, she began to see a few gaps in the physical therapy experience for some populations.

  1. Getting people better is not the end of the story.
    We also need to teach them how to stay better. To do that, they need to understand why they got hurt and how to prevent it from happening again. Education is key. It’s not just about what we can do for you—it’s about what we can teach you to do for yourself.

  2. We can create the world’s best home exercise program, but sometimes it is hard to stay motivated at home.
    There has to be a better way to provide continuity of care, and to help our patients stay motivated, excited, and to have fun with staying strong, healthy, and injury free.

  3. Girls’ and women’s bodies are unique—and, more importantly, every body is different. Everyone deserves a place where they feel comfortable, safe, and valued.

Kate spent most of her career working in pediatric sports and had a special love for teaching girls how to be strong, confident, and prevent their injuries from returning.  She loved teaching girls how to walk into a gym confidently and know how to choose a workout specific to their needs.  She wanted a physical therapy clinic where girls could truly thrive, both during and outside of their physical therapy care. In 2016 in a cozy space with a positive, upbeat atmosphere, original art on the walls, empowering books on the bookshelf, a fun playlist, and supported by a team of brilliant minds, strong hands, and caring hearts, Girl Fit Physical Therapy was born.

At Girl Fit, we are dedicated to health, wellness, injury prevention, and giving girls and women the tools to stay strong, fit, and achieve their dreams. Through individualized physical therapy, injury prevention, and group fitness classes, we help girls and women build strength, flexibility, balance, and confidence. Our goal is to teach you how to care for your own body, understand why injuries occur and how to prevent them, and empower you to feel confident, healthy, and strong while enjoying the activities you love.
