Physical Therapy for Girls & Women
Unlock Your Best, Strongest Self with Specialized Physical Therapy
At Girl Fit, we understand that female bodies—especially in athletic, postpartum, or rehabilitative phases—face unique structural, hormonal, and mechanical demands. Our physical therapy services in Newton and Framingham, MA are specially tailored for girls and women who want expert, compassionate care that treats the whole person, not just an injury.
We deliver individualized treatment plans built on evidence-based medicine, personal goals, and a deep understanding of female biomechanics. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, overcoming pain, training for your next race, or returning to activities postpartum, our therapists are here to guide you every step of the way.
Why Choose Girl Fit Physical Therapy?
Female-centric care. Our therapists train extensively in conditions affecting girls & women—sports injuries, ACL tears, diastasis recti, and more.
Individualized programs. No cookie-cutter plans here. We assess your body, history, and goals and design a plan that evolves with you.
Advanced techniques. From manual therapy and dry needling to running gait analysis and blood flow restriction therapy, we offer a full toolkit to optimize recovery.
Education and empowerment. We don’t just treat; we teach you how to prevent re-injury and maintain wellness on your own.
Our Core Services & Techniques
Therapeutic Exercise & Neuromuscular Re-education
Movement is important. Through strength training, neuromuscular re-education (balance, stability, posture), and mobility work, we help you rebuild function. Rather than relying solely on passive techniques, we progressively guide you toward independence.
Manual Therapy & Soft Tissue Work
Using skilled hands and specialized tools, our therapists perform joint mobilizations, soft tissue release, fascia work, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). These techniques reduce pain sensitivity, improve tissue mobility, and prepare your body for more dynamic work.
Gait & Running Analysis
If you’re a runner or regularly engage in load-bearing activity, a gait assessment can uncover subtle asymmetries or inefficiencies. We use slowed-down video analysis to pinpoint key changes and then integrate corrective exercises into your plan.
IASTM
This is a type of manual therapy that utilizes stainless steel instruments to change the perception or feeling of tightness in the muscles and fascia. It is important to stretch and strengthen the treated muscle after this technique to maximize the effectiveness. The goal of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is to decrease perceived tightness in an area, increase blood flow, decrease restrictions, and improve mobility.
Dry Needling, Cupping & Trigger Point Work
To treat persistent muscular tightness or trigger points, we may incorporate dry needling or cupping. These modalities, combined with movement and strengthening, can accelerate your progress and help resolve stubborn areas of tension.
Postoperative Rehabilitation
Recovering from surgery (ACL, rotator cuff, meniscus, etc.) demands precision and patience. We follow surgical protocols and customize them to your body, measuring progress (e.g. via dynamometry) and carefully dosing modalities like electrical stimulation or blood flow restriction to rebuild strength safely.
Postpartum Physical Therapy
Pregnancy and childbirth bring physical changes and new demands on our bodies. Our postpartum rehab programs help you reclaim core integrity, restore coordination between abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, address diastasis recti and scar mobility, and resolve associated joint or back pain.
