At Girl Fit Physical Therapy, wellness doesn’t stop when pain goes away. Our Wellness Services are designed for individuals who want to stay proactive, move better, and reduce injury risk—whether you’ve completed physical therapy, are currently pain-free, or simply want expert guidance to support your long-term health and performance.
These services provide access to the expertise of a licensed physical therapist outside of traditional insurance-based care.
Wellness Visits
Wellness Visits are 45-minute individualized sessions with a physical therapist designed for clients who:
- Do not have a current injury
- Have been discharged from physical therapy
- Want to stay proactive with injury prevention, strength, and movement quality
Wellness Visits function as a check-in with your physical therapist to assess how your body is moving and performing over time.
How Wellness Visits Can Be Used
Wellness Visits are highly flexible and can be tailored to your specific goals. They may be used for:
- Guided workouts designed and supervised by a physical therapist
- Maintenance manual therapy, including:
- Dry needling
- Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
- Cupping therapy
- Preseason screenings to identify injury risk and prepare for an upcoming season
- Pointe readiness assessments and training sessions for dancers
- Running gait analysis and form assessment
- Annual movement check-ups to monitor strength, mobility, and mechanics over time
Progression of a home or gym exercise program after a period of time following discharge from physical therapy
Preseason Screening
Preseason Screenings are a specialized type of Wellness Visit designed for athletes preparing for an upcoming season. The goal is to identify movement limitations, strength deficits, or asymmetries that could increase injury risk once training and competition begin.
During a preseason screening, your physical therapist may assess:
- Functional strength and power
- Mobility and flexibility
- Balance and neuromuscular control
- Core and lower extremity mechanics
- Sport-specific movement patterns
Based on the screening results, your physical therapist will provide targeted recommendations and a customized exercise program to help address identified risk factors and optimize performance before the season starts.
Preseason screenings are ideal for youth, adolescent, and adult athletes who want to enter their season feeling prepared, confident, and strong.
Please note: Health insurance companies do not typically cover maintenance or injury-prevention services. Wellness Visits, including preseason screenings, are offered as self-pay services.
Running Gait Analysis
A Running Gait Analysis is a comprehensive evaluation designed to assess running mechanics and identify factors that may affect performance or increase injury risk.
This visit includes:
- Video analysis of running form
- Functional strength and mobility testing
- Assessment of movement patterns specific to running
Running gait analysis is beneficial for runners of all ages and experience levels, whether running is a primary sport or part of cross-training. While helpful at any time, the ideal time is before beginning a new training cycle or increasing mileage.
Common Areas Assessed Include:
- Foot strike patterns
- Overpronation or supination
- Lower extremity landing mechanics
- Posture and trunk control
- Cadence and stride length
Following your evaluation, your physical therapist will develop an individualized plan to improve efficiency, reduce injury risk, and support your running goals.
